About Sendmail
Sendmail is the classic open-source mail transfer agent that has routed email across the internet since the early days of SMTP. Maintained today by Proofpoint, the open-source release continues to be developed and distributed under the Sendmail License for Unix systems. It offers a powerful, if famously intricate, configuration system for routing and delivering mail. Sendmail suits experienced mail administrators and organizations maintaining long-standing mail infrastructure who need a proven, standards-based MTA.
