Document database and developer data platform
PlanetScale
Managed Vitess, Neki and Postgres database platform
About PlanetScale
PlanetScale is a managed cloud database platform built for applications that need serious scale and reliability. It hosts Vitess databases for MySQL workloads, Neki for sharded Postgres, and standard Postgres clusters, adding horizontal sharding, online schema changes, branching workflows and built-in connection pooling. Engineering teams at high-growth companies use it to run demanding production databases without operating the underlying infrastructure themselves. Pricing is resource-based and paid only: single-node databases start at five dollars per month, while high-availability clusters start at under forty dollars per month. PlanetScale removed its free Hobby plan in 2024, so there is no free tier.
