Prometheus
Open-source metrics monitoring and alerting toolkit
About Prometheus
Prometheus is an open-source monitoring system and time series database built for recording how software and infrastructure behave over time. It scrapes numeric metrics from applications and services at regular intervals, stores them with labels that make slicing easy, and answers questions through its PromQL query language. Paired with its alert manager and visualization through Grafana, it has become a standard foundation for cloud-native observability, especially alongside Kubernetes. Prometheus is completely free and open source, community-driven and released under the Apache 2.0 license; teams only pay for the infrastructure they run it on or optional managed offerings from cloud providers.
